Illinois State University has provided 100 hours of professional development. Illinois technology education teachers and Illinois State University faculty members have participated in the initial NCETE cohort. Using a common theme of robotics throughout the professional development institute sessions, the professional development team in Illinois has been able to focus on a certain technology that has transferable knowledge, skill, and conceptual understanding to other related technologies and engineering foci. The Illinois team has worked with mathematicians, scientists, computer scientists, and engineers from around Illinois during the professional development period, thus helping to create a learning community of scholars in the pursuit of implementing engineering constructs into technology education.
