Current Doctoral Fellows
A large number of well-qualified candidates applied for the 2005-2008 doctoral fellowships. The first cohort of ten NCETE Fellows began their program in August 2005. The Fellows are studying at the following four universitites: University of Georgia, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, University of Minnesota, and Utah State University.
Future Doctoral Fellowship Opportunities
A second cohort of NCETE fellows will be selected in the fall of 2007. Applications for this next opportunity will be available online in the Fall of 2006.
Each NCETE fellow receives a stipend, a research assistantship and full tuition for 3 years of graduate study, contingent on NSF Funding. The Fellows travel to professional meetings and NCETE summer workshops and are engaged in the NCETE Research Program.
NCETE Doctoral Fellowship Requirements
Doctoral Fellows must be admitted to both a partner doctoral program and to the NCETE Graduate Program. Each university utilizes its own admissions standards for initial consideration. The NCETE Admissions Committee will recommend the most highly qualified candidates for fellowship support.
To apply for an NCETE fellowship, each candidate must fill out the online application form which includes a 1-3 page statement answering the following questions:
- What are your career goals?
- Why are you interested in participating in NCETE ?
- What is your level of commitment and availability to NCETE?
The NCETE Admissions Committee will consider the following qualifications when reviewing applications:
- Bachelor's degree in technology education, engineering, mathematics, or physical science
- Master’s degree in technology education, engineering, or related field
- Research experience at master's level
- 9-12 teaching experience
- Work experience related to engineering or design
Selection will be based on a total review of the candidate; no single criteria will ensure or prevent admission.
